When you love something, the first thing you want to do is share it — favorite restaurants, favorite movies, and even good money habits you’ve picked up along the way.
Acorns makes sharing those habits easy. Our referral program, Share the Wealth, helps you help the people you love by giving them a chance to grow their money knowledge and their nest egg — just like you!
For many, their introduction to saving and investing is through a knowledgeable friend or family member. And in this case — that’s you!
At Acorns, we’re on a mission to give every person a chance to grow their wealth, as well as their money knowledge. And to do that, we need your help.
And we’ve gathered a bunch of resources below that you can use to encourage your loved ones to start growing their oak.
As an added bonus, both you and your friend will receive a $5 bonus investment when your friend signs up and makes their first investment of $5 or more. You could also earn even bigger bonus investments during our limited time promotional periods (can be over $1,000!)
One of the most common questions we get from Acorns advocates is “Where do I start?” In general, the best way is through sharing why you started investing. Speaking to what you’ve learned along your investing journey can be just as powerful. We’ve summarized a few tips below that can help you share that knowledge.
The power of time and the stock market doesn’t discriminate. No matter how much you choose to invest, you’re giving each dollar a chance to grow.
For example, at a hypothetical 6% rate of return, investing $5 a day could mean over $70,000 in 20 years — nearly doubling the total investment you would have put in. To see how much your money could grow through investing, check out our compound interest calculator.
Saving money is a smart move. But consider this: the average interest rate on a savings account is about 0.4%, meaning for every $100 you save, you’ll earn 40¢ in interest.
Meanwhile, the average stock return is about 10% a year, as measured by the S&P 500. That means for every $100 you invest, you could earn $10, nearly 25x more than the 40¢ you’d have earned in savings.
With Acorns, you don’t have to do a bunch of research and pick stocks. Acorns will recommend a portfolio for you based on your age, time horizon, income, goals, and risk tolerance. All you need to do is put aside some cash and Acorns handles the rest. You can even get started with just your spare change!
We've written up a few different ways you can invite your friends to Acorns below. Feel free to change it and put it in your own words — your friends want to hear about your investing journey!
