No, but it helps! As a team, we are passionate about the products we are building and are looking for individuals who share our excitement for saving and investing. So that each candidate knows where they stand, Acorns recruiters strive to get back to every candidate within 2-3 weeks of application. This is one way that we #LeadwithHeart.
While each department will have a slightly different format, you can generally expect the following steps in our interview process:
Step 1: Apply.
Step 2: Phone screen with a recruiter. If your background experience and skills align with what we are looking for, a recruiter will reach out to you to schedule an initial phone interview. These conversations will revolve around your knowledge of Acorns, what you are looking for in your next role, and your previous experience.
Step 3: Phone interview with the hiring manager or technical partner. This conversation will delve deeper into your skills specific to the role. If you are an engineer, this will be a technical interview with coding exercises.
Step 4: In-person interview with the team. At this point, you will typically meet with the hiring manager, key partners on the team, and stakeholders from other departments.
Step 5: Phone interview with our CEO, Noah Kerner. Noah is a champion of mission and values, and speaks with every candidate who is recommended for hire.
Step 6: Offer.
Note that some teams will also include a take home exercise during the interview process. This varies by team, but your recruiter will give you all pertinent details.
For our technical roles (Engineers, Data Scientists, Data Analysts, etc) there are typically 2-3 technical rounds that are led by current team members to determine your level and fit for the role. This can include live coding exercises, or take home assignments. In addition to the technical portion, there are also behavioral sessions with the hiring manager and department head to ensure that your skills are a fit for both the team and the company.
Typically, the interview process will take about 3-4 weeks. While we want to be cognizant of your timelines as well, the Acorns Talent Acquisition team works diligently to find the perfect candidate for each role, so timing can vary.
